There has been considerable discussion around mentoring since the launch of the Early Career Framework.
Phrases like 'Learn that...' and 'Learn how to...' are integral to teacher training in England. Reflecting on my own experiences as both a mentee and subsequently as a mentor led to a concern. Training differs from education. For mentoring to be transformative, it is commonsensical to say it must extend beyond mere instruction. To declare it as a privilege that offers genuine growth opportunities is fine, but it still needs to be grounded in the reality of time pressures in schools.
